Sum of temperature on 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th days
= (58 × 4)
= 232 degrees
Sum of temperature on 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th days
= (60 × 4)
= 240 degrees
Subtracting (i) from (ii), we get :
Temperature on 5^th day - Temperature on 1^st day = 8 degrees
Let the temperature on 1^st and 5^th days be 7x and 8x degrees respectively.
Then,
⇒ 8x - 7x = 8
⇒ x = 8
∴ Temperature on the 5^th day
= 8x
= 8 × 8
= 64 degrees
