The number of applications for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG 2022 has increased this year. For the first time, 18 lakh applications have been received for NEET-UG 2022, which is 2.57 lakh more than the year 2021.
There has been an increase of 274.3% in the number of candidates appearing for the exam in 12 Indian languages in the last five years. A growth of 60% has been registered in the Tamil language as compared to a year ago.
The number of female candidates has crossed the 10 lakh mark.
How Many Students Appeared For Neet 2022
For the first time ever, the number of female candidates who have registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG 2022 has crossed the 10 lakh mark. The gap between female and male candidates is around 2.6 lakh in the year 2022.
Women candidates have registered an increase of around 41% in the last five years. According to a TOI report, there has been a significant increase in the number of registrations in the last five years as per the year 2022 registration data, which has increased from 11.4 lakh in 2017 to 18.7 lakh this year.
While the year-on-year increase in the number of candidates averaged around 1.5 lakh over the past decade, there was a significant decline in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, when the numbers increased to 78,060 and 17,342 respectively.
How Many Students Appeared For Neet 2022
The exam is conducted in 13 languages including 12 Indian languages. The number of candidates appearing for the exam in Hindi has more than doubled in the last five years. From 1.2 lakh in the year 2017 to 2.5 lakh in 2022. Other languages have also seen a gradual increase in the number of candidates appearing for the exam. The mother tongue ranks second after Hindi with around 50,000 candidates taking the test in Gujarati, followed by Bengali with over 42,000 candidates and Tamil with over 31,800 candidates.

Students who want to get admission in medical courses have to first fill out their application form, after that students have to appear in the entrance exam. NEET 2022 entrance exam is conducted for a total of 720 marks, in which a total of 180 questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Botany.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level medical entrance exam. This entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

On the other hand, if we talk state-wise, the maximum number of registrations have been received from Maharashtra (2.5 lakh).
It is followed by Uttar Pradesh (2.1 lakh). The other four states with more than one lakh registrations are Karnataka (1.3 lakh), Kerala (1.2 lakh), Rajasthan (1.4 lakh), and Tamil Nadu (1.4 lakh).
In fact, around 55% of the total candidates have registered for the exam from these six states. Apart from this, if we talk about the three states Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, then there are more than 90,000 registrations in each of the states.
70% of the candidates are coming from nine out of 37 states/UTs. Kota (37,774), Patna (36,114), and Jaipur (34,090) are the top three cities to appear for the exam this year.
